Libro Quinto Título Final

This Code shall enter into force on the first of July, nineteen hundred sixty-four.

Upon the entry into force of the new Code, the Civil Code contained in Legislative Decree number 1932, Book III of the Civil Code of 1877, promulgated by Executive Decree number 176, and Decrees of Congress numbers 375, 444, 1145, 1289 and 1318, which are the Laws of adoption, de facto unions, celebration of marriage and horizontal property, respectively, are repealed insofar as the provisions that are already included or that are in opposition to what is established in this Code.

Conflicts in the application of contradictory provisions between what is provided in prior laws and what is set forth in this Code shall be resolved in accordance with what is established by the Constitutive Law of the Judicial Branch, especially as ordered by Article 250 of said law, except for the term of the limitation period, which shall be that indicated by the law in force at the time the obligation was contracted.

While the new law on waters of public domain is promulgated, Chapters II, III, IV and V of Title II and II and III of Title VI of the Civil Code, Legislative Decree 1932, shall remain in force.
