Article 66 Protection Programs
The Directorate shall represent the interests of consumers or users, advocating for them through the exercise of such actions, remedies, procedures and steps as may be appropriate for the protection of the consumer or user. To render operative the aforementioned protection function, the Directorate shall implement the following programs:
a)Legal defense of the consumer or user.
b)Research on markets and final consumption products, dangerous products and products posing a risk in consumption.
c)Education and guidance for the consumer or user.
d)Technical support for the organization of consumers and users.
e)Promotion of the negotiated resolution of conflicts between providers and consumers and/or users.
f)Cooperation with public and private entities to achieve improvements in consumer and user conditions.
g)Studies, formulation and submission of suggestions for the issuance of new laws or amendments thereto, to improve the defense of the consumer or user.
Article 67 Areas of Research
To generate the knowledge indispensable for the defense of the consumer or user and to support the education and guidance program, the following areas shall be covered with greater emphasis:
a)Rights of the consumer or user.
b)Misleading advertising.
c)Credit operations.
d)Obligations in the provision of services.
e)Commercial warranties.
f)Information methodology.
g)Warning on the use or acquisition of goods and services.
h)Food.
